New Navigation
This is a update of for the General category.
As some of you may have already noticed, there is now a little navigation bar on every Current and Upcoming page, consisting of all the letters in the alphabet, and the number 1 through 9. When you click on any one of them, you will be taken down to the page to where the fanlistings that start with that letter or number are. On the pages with subcategories, you will be taken to the subcategories that start with that letter or number.
We have implemented this after suggestions from visitors and staff members, hopefully this will make it a bit easier to navigate the (sometimes really long) Current and Upcoming pages.

FansFansFans
This is a update of for the General category.
I apologize in advance for posting something that’s more personal than fanlistings-related here, but I need to contact a lot of people, and I know posting it here means many will read it.
I run the fanlistings exchange Fans Fans Fans, and I know many of you were members of it. When I last checked, it had over 450 members.
Unfortunately, something went wrong last week, and corrupted the MySQL tables the exchange uses. I have no idea what happened, but I couldn’t fix it. I had to install a new exchange script, and start from scratch.
This is a message to everyone who was a member: please visit http://fans.nothing-less.net to sign up again and get your new code. The old code is currently giving error messages on your pages, and it will continue to do so. So please sign up again and get a proper, working code.
Thanks so much in advance, and I apologize for any trouble this might be to you.

No updates from Sasha
This is a update of for the General category.
I’m back from my vacation to Boston, USA, and I had an awesome time! Unfortunately, I’m only home for a day. My grandma passed away Saturday night, and I’m flying home to be with my family and to be there for the funeral tomorrow morning. I won’t be back until Saturday evening, so there will be no updates from me for a while again. I apologize to everyone who has emailed me and is waiting for a response.

Rules Update
This is a update of for the General category.
There have been some updates to the Rules:
New Rule – applies to all fanlistings, new and old:
You must have a ‘last updated’ date on the intro page of your site.
If we can’t easily tell when the fanlisting was updated last, then your site may end up on the troubles list when it shouldn’t be. Also, this will help prevent members from applying numerous times – if they can see you haven’t updated since they applied, they will be less likely to submit another join form.
If you don’t already have a last updated or updates section on your fanlisting, please take care of this ASAP! Thanks!
Amendment added to Rule #10:
You are free to apply to run as many fanlistings as you can handle.
There is no limit to the amount of fanlistings you can have. Just make sure you’ll still have enough time and energy to give each fanlisting the attention it deserves. Don’t apply for a fanlisting if you think you won’t have the time to complete or maintain it.
NOTE: The staff has the right to deny applications based on a history of overdue fanlistings, unreasonable requests for extensions, a history of not keeping fanlistings updated, or any other problems previously experienced with the applicant.

Rules Addition
This is a update of for the General category.
A new rule has been added. It should have been there the whole time actually.
“The staff has final right to not approve a fanlisting. Inappropriate or ridiculous subjects can be refused by the staff. Please be sensible when applying for a fanlisting.”

Report A Fanlisting
This is a update of for the General category.
A new section has been added to the site: Report A Fanlisting. With this form, you can report fanlistings that are dead links, not being updated or otherwise breaking the rules, to the staff. This way, you can help us keep the dead fanlistings in the network to a minimum. :)

New Layout!
This is a update of for the General category.
Version 2.0 of TFL is now online! As you can see, the layout has been changed a bit (and hopefully improved). It now uses text-based navigation to reduce loading time for the visitors and bandwith for ourselves. The hover-over effect is done entirely with CSS, no javacript or images are involved. I hope everyone likes it. :)
As usual, if you spot any bugs or run into any problems with it, let me know! :)

Important Notice
This is a update of for the General category.
If you’ve been sent the link to this page in response to an application, please read it thoroughly!
Can I just remind people to not apply for fanlistings on the troubles list! A fanlisting is only available to be applied for if it’s not currently listed on the Current or Upcoming pages and it says on the troubles list:
“Please note that these fanlistings are NOT open for application yet. The staff member responsible will announce on the Updates Blog when you can apply for Troubled Fanlistings.”
Despite this very clear rule I have had numerous applications for episodes on the troubles list saying ‘this is on the troubles list but if the owner doesn’t respond then please can I have it’. This may seem harmless enough but just think, if I were to approve one of these applications the fanlisting would never be removed from the network (it would just change hands), and the people who had been waiting patiently to apply if and when the fanlisting was removed would miss out. They would also be confused as to why a fanlisting was in trouble one day and then upcoming the next, without any indication of it having been removed.
If you want to tell staffers that particular fanlistings have dead links or are inactive, please do so by emailing the staffer responsible at the address you will find on the category status page. Do not fill out an application form, please!
Thanks for reading.
xx Bonnie

This is a update of for the General category.

Counter
This is a update of for the General category.
I have installed a new script for the Users Online and Users Today counts in the Index page, as the old one wasn’t working properly. It reported we had around 250-300 visitors a day, when in reality, we get around 2.500 visitors a day. Hopefully, this new script will be more acurate.

Category Changes
This is a update of for the General category.
Due to confusion under applicants as well as the staff, two categories have been renamed.
Anime/Cartoons is now Animation. In this category, we accept fanlistings for all things animated. That includes hand drawn, computer graphics, claymation, Anime and so on.
Webstuff is now Computer/Webstuff. This category accepts everything related to computers and the internet, including computer programs.
We hope this will clear up any confusion you might have about what goes into these categories.

A few minor updates
This is a update of for the General category.
I updated the style sheets so the text on the Current and Upcoming pages is now left aligned instead of centered.
I also added everyone who emailed over the past few days about being a staff member to the Volunteers List (over 25 people!). Please note that I now have over 60 people listed, so it will take a long time before we will contact you with an opening at the staff.
The Credits, Category Status and Troubles pages as well as The Link Centre have been updated as well.

The Big Reopening!
This is a update of for the General category.
Yes, finally! TheFanlistings Network has reopened.
Everyone, please remember to change your links if you own any fanlistings! The old domain will be active until April 2003, but we don’t know what will happen to it after that.
Applications have reopened, as have Awards and the Exchange. New sections have been added to the site, old sections have been revamped. We tried our best to make the site more user friendly, so if you spot any bugs or errors, please let us know so we can fix them (sasha@nothing-less.net)!
There is also a new mailing list for Updates only. Make sure to subscribe to that one, as Updates will no longer be sent to this list. Sign up for the new one here.
Since this network is built for all of you, feedback would be much appreciated!
Also, please keep in mind that, after the hiatus, we will be receiving a lot of applications. We will try to reply as soon as possible, but please be patient! Now, go and enjoy the new site! :)
